Domino’s Townsville supports Orange Sky Australia on Palm Island
Domino’s registered charity Give for Good and local Townsville franchisees Nathan and Nicole van Jole are supporting Orange Sky Australia with a $5,000 grant as part of the Give for Good Franchisee Grant Program.
Orange Sky Australia provides access to free mobile laundry facilities, warm showers and conversations to people experiencing homelessness or those in need, and recently established the service on Palm Island in September last year.
Domino’s Townsville franchisee Nathan van Jole said the team was proud to support the organisation’s vital work in improving the health and wellbeing of people in need.
“We are proud to get behind Orange Sky Australia and help those who are doing it tough,” Nathan said.
“Not only does Orange Sky offer a free laundry service and warm showers to improve hygiene and restore dignity, they also increase social connection for those who may be disengaged from the community.
“Through genuine and non-judgemental conversations, they create a safe, positive and supportive environment.”
The grant has been provided by Domino’s registered charity, Give for Good, which supports education and youth initiatives, leadership and entrepreneurship, rural communities and disaster relief in communities across Australia.
Orange Sky Australia’s Co-founder and Managing Directors Nic and Lucas said this much-needed funding will be used to supply fuel for the mobile service on Palm Island for one year.
“Since commencing work on Palm Island in late 2018, around 4,800 kilograms of washing has been undertaken as well as more than 250 hours of conversation with locals,” they said.
“Orange Sky Australia also works alongside existing service providers to enhance social, emotional, health and employment outcomes for the community.
“We have also recently recruited a local person on Palm Island to run the service to improve consistency and reliability.”
The Give for Good Franchisee Grant Program is an initiative that enables Domino’s Australian franchisees to apply for a grant on behalf of registered charities and not-for-profit organisations in their local community of up to $5,000.
